It Has Pockets
Found women’s pants
24” x 12” x 12”
2025

DESCRIPTION
It Has Pockets is a pleated jean skirt littered in pockets with pink lining.
The found materials stitched into the skirt come from upcycled men’s and
women’s jeans. The skirt aims to satirically combat the lack of storage
present within women’s clothing. In America, many women’s pockets have
been sewn shut to create a more “appealing” silhouette, implying that the
worth of women lies in feminine clothing. The ambiguity of the material’s
origin prioritizes comfort and practicality over stereotypical appearance.
The work can be worn casually, but exists today in the gallery to open up
conversations on femininity and America’s continuous neglect for women’s
needs.
