LILLIAN GOMEZ
Full Bush as a Thong
undyed grey primitive breed coarse wool
15” x 9” x 14”

DESCRIPTION
Full Bush as a Thong references the online movement, “full bush
in a thong”, where women’s body hair is proudly worn unshaved in
their underwear. This piece places the bush on full display for all to
see, unskewed by the thin garment would normally cover the area. The
coarse wool mimics the texture of pubic hair. Its abrasive material makes
the lingerie uncomfortable and impractical for the wearer, similar to the
aesthetic conditions of women’s undergarments. By subverting expectations
of sexualized imagery associated with thongs, this piece advocates for the
female gaze, operating as a natural function of the human body and deterring
those from interacting with it.
