JULIE PETERSON
Pacsun Framed
found fabric, glass, wood frame
18” x 24”

DESCRIPTION
Pacsun Framed is in discussion with the ever growing fast fashion
industry and the normalization of overconsumption. The simple white top is
adorned with far too many bows, and shiny pearls, exaggerating perceived
elegance in fashion as an attempt to display wealth and hierarchy. This top
is placed within a glass covered frame that acts as a barrier and a symbol
of untouchability within wealth and the intensified class status of today’s
world. The white backdrop of the frame blends almost seamlessly with the
white top, commenting on society’s desire for flawlessness.
